FREE GUIDED TOURS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT PALLADIO MUSEUM IN VICENZA

il museo

On Saturdays and Sundays there are free guided tours of the Palladio Museum in Vicenza.

The Palladio Museum tells the life and works of the most famous architect of the last five centuries, Andrea Palladio. The museum is set up in the historic center of Vicenza, in Palazzo Barbaran da Porto, one of the most beautiful buildings of the great architect: it is the only city palace for which Palladio managed to complete the construction site and which also preserves intact sumptuous decorative apparatus: frescoes by Giambattista Zelotti, canvases by Andrea Vicentino, stuccos by Rubini. At the Palladio Museum you discover Palladio’s architecture, but also the society, construction techniques and culture of villas in the Veneto of the sixteenth century, through original drawings, architectural models, ancient books, videos, photographs.

On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. there will be free guided tours for the “PALLADIO DESIGNER” exhibition which, on the occasion of the Milan Design Week, aims to tell the story of Palladio’s activity as a designer of some micro architectures such as fireplaces, hand basins, sinks, well rings and a cupboard for Alvise Mocenigo’s coin collection and does so using new digital tools. At the basis of everything is the 3D acquisition of these objects using a commonly used tool: the smartphone.

Faustina’s braids exhibition at Palazzo Leoni Montanari, Vicenza

Faustina’s braids: women’s hairstyles and power in the Renaissance

The theme of the exhibition addresses for the first time in a monographic way a fundamental aspect of the art, culture, society and antiquarian studies of the Renaissance: women’s hairstyles. Through a wide-ranging selection of works, from imperial busts to Renaissance ones, from paintings to sculptures, from ancient coins to modern medals, from drawings to printed volumes (with a final neoclassical appendix), we will try to reconstruct the fascinating and complex of fifteenth and sixteenth century hair, the artistic possibilities they offered and their importance in Italian society and fashion.

At Palazzo Leoni Montanari in Vicenza, bordering our Relais Santa Corona!

Until 04/07/2024

From Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00

ARS IUVENES – Exhibition of young artists of Academy of Fine Arts at Relais Santa Corona

LeieLei by Matteo Daloiso at Relais Santa Corona, Vicenza

Free entry, from 11/27/23 to 12/17/23

The Relais Santa Corona presents the ARS IUVENES exhibition offering the opportunity to young artists who attend the Academy of Fine Arts to exhibit their works for free.

The first artist selected is Matteo Daloiso, born in Vimercate (MB) in 2003. An experimental artist, he is particularly attracted by the expressive potential of colour. He currently studies artistic decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia.

The exhibition aims to reconstruct all facets of the female figure. Since the artist is a man, it is a real investigation, driven by a profound respect but also fascination towards the subject. Each work is imbued with a different vibration impressed by the artistic techniques used. The women represented belong to different times and places. The path is inaugurated by the revisitation of the Nike of Samothrace, a symbol of beauty for the classical world. It is compared to the different costume of the contemporary woman, represented in two panels: a sober girl at the bar and the diva in an evening dress. A design element acts as a connection: a sideboard, made with recycled materials, where two women invite us to grab the handles and open the doors to follow them into their fantastic universe which also becomes ours. In his subsequent works the artist expresses the modesty and delicacy of the faces, outlined with spontaneous instinctiveness thanks to the skilful use of the brush. The female world appears to us in the dream of the double-faced mantis woman, but also in the representation of the subhuman condition of Afghan women, often forced to hide their nature; the work is placed alongside, as if in reaction, an almost photographic depiction of a girl who screams her desire to live to the world: she suffers from her but is also resilient, as symbolized by the water that flows and wets her face . The same energy explodes in the last canvas that closes the exhibition, a pop reinterpretation of a female face.

Welcome to the room La Salute

In our Relais every room has a name and on the first floor is located room La Salute.

The Basilica della Salute was erected in Venice at Punta della Dogana. It was designed by Baldassare Longhena and represents one of the best expressions of Venetian Baroque architecture. The building was erected as a votive offering by the Venetians to the Virgin Mary for liberation from the plague of 1630-1631. On November 21st the feast of the Madonna della Salute is celebrated in Venice: the inhabitants of the city cross a bridge, originally made of boats and today floating, which connects San Marco to the basilica. The octagonal body of the building rests on a hemispherical dome, on whose lantern stands the statue of the Virgin; refined spiral volute act as buttresses. Through the symbolism of the number 8, the plant recalls the concept of Stella Maris, a name of Mary seen as the morning star who guides sailors across the sea.

Come to our Relais and visit Vicenza, a good base for discover all the Veneto.

PAINTERS OF REALITY IN ASIAGO – VICENZA

Until 1 October 2023, in Asiago in the province of Vicenza, the exhibition “The Painters of Reality – between ancient and modern” will be held at the Le Carceri Museum.

In this extraordinary exhibition, Vittorio Sgarbi continues with determination the journey of rediscovery of the “Modern Painters of Reality”, a group of artists who in 1947 rebelled against the results of modernism, defending and recovering the rich pictorial tradition that extends from Caravaggio to Spanish and Flemish painting. Curated by Vittorio Sgarbi with the collaboration of Beatrice Avanzi and Daniela Ferrari, the exhibition explores a significant season of post-war Italian art, of which it presents over seventy pictorial works. Asiago is located in the province of Vicenza and is about 50 minutes from our hotel Relais Santa Corona.
