He has finally opened to the public the largest iconographic exhibition ever made in Italy dedicated to the great Impressionist painter. More than 40 paintings and 80 drawings have been exhibited to rebuild the life of the great painter.

The exhibition is open from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 6pm, from Friday to Sunday from 9am to 8pm and is reachable from our Hotel Relais Santa Corona in less than 5 minutes on foot. To buy tickets, please visit the Shadow Line website:

They will introduce us to the painter’s universe numerous letters sent mainly to Brother Theo Van Gogh; will be the thread of the exhibition, as a diary sheet.

Van Gogh was born in Holland in 1853 and has a training that is inspired by the landscaping realism of Barbizon and Millet painters. One of the ways to get to know the painter is through the letters he exchanged with his brother to whom his thoughts on art and his world vision are taught, as well as his approach to artwork. Van Gogh is driven by the desire to help his neighbor from the young age, and the artistic turn was because he saw in painting a means of spreading the Gospel message; The first production was in the Netherlands in Nuenen, where the parents who supported him economically and psychologically were concerned, worried about his melancholy temperament. Sin later moved to Antwerp and Paris, finding the small village of Nuenen limiting for his artistic vocation. In Antwerp he discovered Rubens, Hals and Rembrandt. In Paris, Van Gogh meets the beloved Theò and produces more joyful paintings. In Paris, we know what we consider today as the greatest masters of modern painting: Toulouse-Lautrec, Monet, Degas, Sisley, Signac, Gauguin and many more. Van Gogh in Paris acquires artistic and personal security that will blossom into alcoholism and vanity, far from the early mysticism of the early days. In 1888-89 he moved to Arles, Provence, where he worked unabated, inspired by the luxuriant nature surrounding him. Van Gogh dreamed of establishing a community of artists together and succeeded in convincing his friend Gauguin to move to the famous yellow house where he lived. The solidarity of the two painters was, unfortunately, unhappy and culminated in a violent struggle in which Van Gogh cut a lobe: Gauguin left and Vincent was interned in various psychiatric structures where he continued to paint. His paintings finally began to be successful and Vincent from Saint Remy joins again at Theò in Paris. In 1890, one evening, after being in the countryside to paint, he returned home with a gunshot wound he had taken. The remains of Vincent and Theò lie with the cemetery of Auvers, France.

In the Italian cinemas on 16th, 17th and 18th October, will be screened the film “Loving Vincent”, by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, a fully-featured feature film realized in 6 years, first played by real actors, then transformed into animated films by 125 artists have played on 65,000 shots on canvas. His characters tell the painter’s life.

ARAKI, FONDAZIONE BISAZZA in Montecchio, VICENZA

The famous Japanese artist Nobuyoshi Araki exhibits to the Bisazza Foundation countless works, some of which are unpublished.

The foundation is located in Montecchio in the province of Vicenza, a 15-minute drive from our Relais Santa Corona, located in the historic center.

The exhibition, curated by Filippo Maggia, is open to visitors free of charge until Sunday, December 3, 2017. Women’s nude are the main subjects of the alleged artist, arrested several times at home. Araki was born in Japan in 1940 and is mainly famous for works from the erotic subject. After studying photography, he works for an advertising agency where he knows his wife Yoko. The marriage becomes the object of photography and Araki publishes the Sentimental Journey collection in 1971 on their honeymoon. She then focuses on the sex industry and places many jobs in the red lights district of Tokyo; the works are collected in Tokyo lucky hole.

Araki is also widely appreciated by many well-known artists in other areas, such as Icelandic musician Björk who has asked the photographer to make the cover of the Telegram album and has put several times for a series of photographs. Recently Araki has portrayed the American singer Lady Gaga.

His works are today exhibited in numerous art galleries such as the Tate Gallery in London and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.

The photos at the Bisazza Foundation are about 70 and they tell the experiences that have most marked the life of the artist. Significant are the works of the collection “Love on the Left Eye”, obscured in the right side because the artist had become blind of the right eye.

A recurring theme with great impact is that of the bondage and the ancient kinbaku Japanese art. The images are controversial and show feminine bodies tied and often naked, pleasure deludes in distress and the separation line is not marked.

Araki has curated the Bisazza advertising campaign of 2013 and some of these shots are visible today in the exhibition: Japanese culture is emphasized by mosaic environments.

Our Relais Santa Corona hotel is the ideal base for visiting Vicenza and its marvels. Montecchio and the Foundation are reachable from the historic center in about 15 minutes by car.

The decoration of the inner halls was called Battista Zelotti, Anselmo Canera, Andrea Michieli, while the stuccoes were entrusted to Lorenzo Rubini (who also worked at the Loggia del Capitaniato). “Romeo e Giulietta”, Zeffirelli, Montecchio Maggiore, Vicenza

“Romeo and Juliet” by Zeffirelli, Montecchio Maggiore in Vicenza

Zeffirelli’s film will be screened at Romeo’s Caste in Montecchio Maggiore, Vicenza, on July 30 at 21.15 during the event “The Thousand Faces of Juliet 2017”. The film is from 1968 and represents one of the most faithful transpositions of the famous novel by William Shakespeare given also by the fact that the age of young actors approaches much to that of the two protagonists. Leonard Whiting plays Romeo, Olivia Hussey Juliet and at the time were 17 and 16 respectively.

The film provoked various controversy due to naked scenes of the protagonists, and for this reason in Great Britain and the USA it was classified as adult movies; In Italy Zeffirelli received a special concession from censorship to show the nude of Juliet naked and to Hussey himself was forbidden to enter the room to see the film because of hes young age.

The film had an international success and won two Oscars for photography and costumes.

The frame of the medieval Castello di Romeo in Montecchio Maggiore is surely fabulous! Montecchio is reached from our hotel in Vicenza Relais Santa Corona in ten minutes by car.

The Astra Theater organizes theatrical performances on stage in the medieval Rione dei Barche, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Vicenza, landing ships from nearby Venice. It is here the confluence of the two city rivers, Bacchiglione and Retrone. The territory of Vicenza is full of rivers that descend from the valleys or emerge from the risorgues of the Po Valley. The original nucleus of the city stood between the Astic River and the River Retrone, and much of the territory was unpolluted and marshy. Benedictine monks were in the Middle Ages to gradually regenerate the territory. During the dominance of the serene, riverways were the most used for freight transport, being faster and less risky. Venice then reclaimed other areas of the district and obliged the municipalities to regularly clean the watercourses.

The scheduled shows will be 4 from 27 July at 21.15 with “Beautiful World” by Mariangela Gualtieri; Will follow “Dialoghi dei Dei” on July 28 by the Massimiliano Civic Sandbags, “Always Sunday” on Saturday, July 29 by Collective Controcanto, to finish with the “Wood Circus” on June 30th of Karromato.
