Fogazzariana dinner at the Mulin Vecio restaurant in Caldogno, in the province of Vicenza, Friday, March 2, 2018 at 20.30. The restaurant is housed in an old mill from 1520 and is surrounded by the waters of the springs and the officinal garden.

The event was organized for the publication of the latest work by Francesco Soletti, “The world of Antonio Fogazzaro, Vicenza and Valdastico, Valsolda and Lake Como”. IL MACAFAME, dolce tipico veneto

Many customers during breakfast ask us for information on this typical dessert that we prepare every day. What is macafame?

This typical Vicenza cake is made with poor recycling ingredients like old bread, eggs and milk. The name would mean that “affects hunger” as a slice is enough for breakfast or a snack, perhaps combined with seasonal fruit.

The cake was cooked by the farmers in the stoves, but you can still prepare them using the oven.

But how do we prepare the Macafame in Vicenza at Relais Santa Corona? We see following the recipe followed by our hotel!

First of all we keep aside the bread of the day before (if it is advanced it makes the use of some brioche even tastier), about 300 grams. We line a cake mold and break the bread with your hands. In a bowl, pour the warmed milk, two tablespoons of honey and two of sugar, preferably of cane, two beaten eggs. Add a handful of raisins and an apple cut into cubes. For those who like it you can enrich the mixture with dried figs, prunes or dried fruit. Pour the mixture over the crumbled bread and mix the obtained mixture; let it rest in a warm place for at least a couple of hours, stirring the mixture occasionally so as to soak the bread well. Sprinkle with plenty of cane sugar, cinnamon; add a few knobs of butter to make it more tasty (about 30-40 grams). The dessert cooks a quartina of minutes at 180 degrees.

Molti clienti durante la prima colazione ci domandano informazioni su questo dolce tipico che prepariamo tutti i giorni. Ma che cos’è il macafame?

Questa torta tipica vicentina è fatta con ingredienti poveri di riciclo come il pane vecchio, uova e latte. Il nome vorrebbe significare che “ammacca la fame” in quanto una fetta è sufficiente per colazione o una spuntino, magari abbinata a frutta di stagione.

Il dolce veniva cotto dai contadini nelle stufe ma si può preparare ugualmente usando il forno.

Ma come prepariamo noi a Vicenza al Relais Santa Corona il Macafame? Vediamo a seguito la ricetta seguita dal nostro hotel!

Innanzitutto teniamo da parte del pane del giorno prima (se è avanzata lo rende piu’ saporito anche l’uso di qualche brioche), circa 300 grammi. Foderiamo uno stampo da torta e spezzettiamo il pane con le mani. In una ciotola versiamo il latte intiepidito, due cucchiai di miele e due di zucchero possibilmente di canna, due uova sbattute. Aggiungiamo una manciata di uva passa ed una mela tagliata a dadini. Per chi piace si può arricchire il composto con fichi secchi, prugne o frutta secca. Versiamo il composto sul pane sbriciolato e mescoliamo il composto ottenuto; lasciamo riposare in un luogo caldo per almeno un paio di ore, mescolando il composto saltuariamente in modo da far inzuppare bene il pane. Spolverizziamo con abbondante zucchero di canna, cannella; aggiungiamo qualche fiocchetto di burro per renderlo piu’ gustoso (circa 30-40 grammi). Il dolce cuoce una quartina di minuti a 180 gradi.

BAROQUE CONCERT AT VILLA VALMARANA AI NANI 18/02/18

The splendid setting of Villa Valmarana ai Nani, in Vicenza, will be the background to a baroque music concert on Sunday 18/02/18 at 18.00.

Villa Valmaranaai Nani is located on the Berico’s Hills and it’s famous for Giambattisca and Giandomenico Tiepolo’s frescos. The name “ai Nani” was given by the dwarf statues on the external walls. The first construction was completed by Giovanni Maria Bertolo in 1670. Other constructions were added later, such as the barchessa, the guesthouse, the stable. This villa was built as a home and not as a farm like many venetian villas. In 1736 Giustino Valmarana asked to Francesco Muttoni to renovate the building. The architect modified many parts and gave it today’s appearance. In the main building there are classic frescos such as scenes from greek mythology Iliade, Eneide, from the Gerusalemme liberata by Torquato Tasso and from the Orlando furioso by Ariosto.

Villa Valmarana ai Nani è una villa veneta situata nelle vicinanze della città di Vicenza, sulle falde di Monte Berico, celebre per gli affreschi di Giambattista Tiepolo e del figlio Giandomenico. Il nomignolo con cui è conosciuta (per differenziarla dalle altre ville della stessa famiglia) è dovuto alle sculture in pietra rappresentanti dei nani, un tempo sparsi nel parco, oggi allineati sul muro di cinta. Il primo edificio, quello residenziale, voluto da Giovanni Maria Bertolo, fu completato nel 1670. Durante gli anni successivi alla struttura furono affiancate una barchessa, una foresteria, una stalla e vari altri edifici, tipici delle ville venete; tuttavia la collocazione collinare e gli interessi dei proprietari fanno sì che questa villa si caratterizzi più come residenza che, come accade per molte altre ville venete, come centro produttivo agricolo. Nel 1736 Giustino Valmarana incaricò Francesco Muttoni del restauro della villa; fu il Muttoni ad apportare molte delle modifiche che si vedono attualmente. n particolare la palazzina principale ripercorre temi mitologici e classici, con scene dall’Iliade, dall’Eneide, dalla mitologia, dalla Gerusalemme liberata di Torquato Tasso e dall’Orlando furioso dell’Ariosto.

Cosa fare a Vicenza di lunedì?

Solitamente questa giornata è la piu’ mal vista dai turisti in visita perchè tutti i musei del centro storico sono chiusi ma invece qualcosa da fare c’è, leggete sotto per scoprirlo!

The Vicenza market “I do not have age” will move this Sunday to Bassano del Grappa after the historic center stage last week. The location will be the central Piazza del Terraglio, surrounded by the medieval walls of the town. For the occasion the shops will be open and you can taste typical products. What to do in Vicenza this weekend? From 8 to 10 December 2017 will be held in Bassano del Grappa in the province of Vicenza the first edition of the Wine Festival, fair market of Italian wineries.

Cosa fare a Vicenza il Ponte dell’Immacolata? Dall’8 al 10 Dicembre 2017 si terrà a Bassano del Grappa in provincia di Vicenza la prima edizione del Festival del Vino, fiera mercato delle cantine italiane.

La location, Bassano Expo, Via Valsugana 22, è raggiungibile dal nostro Relais Santa Corona in 40 minuti in auto circa e l’evento rappresenta un’ottima occasione per conoscere la famosa cittadina rinomata per la grappa e per il Ponte degli Alpini progettato da Andrea Palladio.

Cosa fare a Vicenza nella giornata di lunedì è una domanda che si pongono tutti i turisti in visita alla nostra bella città perchè i principali musei ed edificio sono chiusi. Un’altra cosa che si può ora fare nella giornata di lunedì è quella di partecipare alla visita guidata dell’area archeologica della Corte dei Bissari e della Basilica Palladiana dalle ore 10.00 alle ore 11.00, per scoprire le vicende che si sono verificate prima della edificazione dello storico monumento. Il sito è molto interessante perchè aiuta a ricostruire la fondazione della città di Vicenza, dagli antichi veneti all’età romana, molto importante per la pianta urbanistica attuale, fino all’epoca rinascimentale. La pavimentazione è visibile attraversando una passerella con pavimento lastricato di vetro trasparente. Sono visibili anche una serie di manufatti rinvenuti durante gli scavi, soprattutto di età romana. E’ stata ricostruita una sepoltura longobarda che ospita una preziosa crocetta aurea.

Night Circus is an acrobatic circus show of by the Recirquel Company; it is set in Budapest, 10 meters high and the first national will be held in Vicenza. FIERE AUTUNNO 2017 a MAROSTICA-VICENZA

Cosa fare a Vicenza ad Ottobre 2017?

Sabato 28 e domenica 29 ottobre 2017 si terrà l’Antica Fiera di San Simeone a Marostica, in provincia di Vicenza. La fiera si terrà tra Campo Marzio, il Castello Inferiore e Superiore dalle 9.00 di mattina alle ore 7.00 di sera.

Durante la mostra-mercato si eleggerà la migliore zucca, si premierà il più bel balcone fiorito. Nella corte d’armi del Castello Inferiore ci sarà la dimostrazione di come venivano eseguiti i lavori contadini di una volta, dall’arte di intrecciare la paglia per ottenere cappelli e ceste, a come impagliare una sedia. Ci sarà inoltre l’esposizione di funghi autunnali, cerali antichi ed ortaggi. La Fiera di San Simeone è una sorta di Festa del Ringraziamento, che verrà celebrata con la sfilata dei trattori. Ci saranno inoltre laboratori su come riconoscere gli ortaggi selvatici e sulla produzione del formaggio.

Nella notte del 31 ottobre 2017 di Halloween, in occasione di “Veneto Mistero 2017“, si terrà al castello inferiore la Notte degli Spiriti, con racconti del terrore dei vecchi filò invernali dei nostri nonni.

What to do in Vicenza in October 2017?

On Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2017, the Ancient Fair of San Simeone will be held in Marostica, in the province of Vicenza. The fair will be held between Campo Marzio, the Lower and Upper Castle from 9am in the morning at 7.00am in the evening.

During the exhibition-market you will choose the best pumpkin, will reward the finest flowered balcony. At the Lower Castle Weapons court there will be a demonstration of how once the peasant jobs were carried out, from the art of weaving straw to get hats and baskets, how to wrap a chair. There will also be an exhibition of autumn fungi, antique sauces and vegetables. The San Simeone Fair is a kind of Thanksgiving Feast, which will be celebrated with the parade of tractors. Il maestro Alexander Lonquich inaugura la stagione concertistica 2016-2017 dirigendo una grande violinista, CAROLIN WIDMANN, in un concerto che si terrà lunedì 24 ottobre 2017 alle ore 20.45 presso il Teatro Comunale di Vicenza.

Lonquich è stato insignito del premio “Franco Abbiati” , XXXVI edizione, come miglior solista dell’anno.

Il maestro nasce in Germania a Trier nel 1960 e vince il primo premio all’età di 16 anni a Terni durante il concorso “Casagrande”. Carolin Widman è una violinista tedesca e nasce a Monaco nel 1976. Suona un violino del 1976 fabbricato dal maestro Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. vanta collaborazioni prestigiose con grandi direttori della musica classica come Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Wolfgang Rihm, Salvatore Sciarrino and Rebecca Saunders. master Alexander Lonquich opens the 2016-2017 concert season by directing a great violinist, CAROLIN WIDMANN, to a concert that will be held on Monday 24 October 2017 at 20.45 pm at Vicenza’s Municipal Theater.

Lonquich was awarded the “Franco Abbiati” prize, XXXVI edition, as best solo of the year.

The master was born in Germany in Trier in 1960 and won the first prize at the age of 16 at Terni during the “Casagrande” competition. He worked in the course of his career with great musicians such as Claudio Abbado, Yuri Bashmet, Hans Graf, Heinz Holliger, Ton Koopman, Emmanuel Krivine, Mark Minkowski, Kurt Sanderling, Sándor Végh. He performs and collaborates with the greatest international orchestras and from the 2014/2015 season he is the director of the Vicenza LP.

Carolin Widman is a German violinist and born in Munich in 1976. He plays a 1976 violin made by master Giovanni Battista Guadagnini.
